in brazil, this 8-year-old kid actually exists. what’s scarier is the existence of her parents who encourage her to wear black lipstick and dance and sing poorly to lady gaga’s songs about debilitating obsessions. at one point, the parents must have even suggested that the kid crawl sexily around on the floor. very classy.
at the same time, i love a world where this kid exists, so long as she remains in another hemisphere.
ahh, the immortal words of a snot-nosed hipster on the wrong side of the law. there is very little funnier than watching vapid hipsters try to sound not-stupid in a courtroom. it’s like watching a walrus try to drive a car, only funnier. here, kate levitt of teeth mountain and jonathan coward of shams battle it out over three smashed broken tvs and a dead cat, a casualty supposedly quickly buried in a shoe box by a drunk levitt. witness the judicial system at work while shedding a tear for our future.
in all of this, i have to wonder, is this is a prank, some brilliant publicity stunt, a rip on the modern justice system, a rip on daytime television masquerading as the modern justice system?? because if it is i wholeheartedly love these people now. the world just got a lot brighter since entertaining the idea that maybe these dumb kids aren’t so dumb after all.
it’s been almost two years since chromeo released any new work, but they’ve finally broken their silence with their new single ‘night by night.’ in collaboration with Green Label Sound (a flimsy front for mountain dew which is apparently now targeting indie/hipster kids instead of EXTREME SNOWBOARDERS these days), chromeo’s ‘night by night’ is vocoder-rich and dancey, but it doesn’t sound a whole hell of a lot different from their releases of ‘04 and ‘07. still, i’m big fans of these guys, even if they tend to repeat themselves.
also, dave 1: HAWWWWWWT.
but mountain dew, for real?? that’s the biggest disappointment here.
pandora is great for discovering new music by artist or song, but if you want to discover music by city, there’s citysounds.fm, where you can browse the music scene of over 30 major cities.
citysounds.fm was developed by swedish music geekazoids Henrik Berggren and David Kjelkerud during london’s Music Hack Day. by using the audio platform from soundcloud.com they’re able to stream a constantly updated supply of city-specific music giving users an auditory travel visa to cities like belgrade, helsinki, london, even nashville.
fortunately there’s never a cover charge, so if you don’t like what’s playing in one city, you can hop on your mouse over to one in another hemisphere.
